We dropped off the food at the overflow homeless shelter and one of the staff asked us to address all the recipients who were lined up waiting for dinner.  We told them “We are from Congregation Mishkan Israel in Hamden and we have a great meal for you this evening….made with the same kind of love as when we cook for our families.  We hope you’ll enjoy it.  It was an honor to give you a meal.”  They all applauded us and people stepped forward to shake our hands and to say “God Bless You.”  We left humbled and deeply touched.
