Emergency Shelter Management Services
Eric came to the shelter in October 2009 and began to search for employment with the assistance of case management and the job developer. He gained employment in January 2010 full time as a cook in the Milford Mall. He began to save his pay checks and started to search for affordable housing. He did find an apartment in New Haven. He requested assistance in paying the security deposit. In February 2010, Neighbor-to- Neighbor funds assisted him in paying his security deposit. He continues to work and had maintained his housing on his own ever since.
Scott has been a resident in and out of the shelter since April 2002. He has left the shelter to attend inpatient substance abuse treatment, incarceration and housing that he was unable to sustain. He returned back to the shelter in March 2009. He started to search for employment and continued to attend outpatient treatment. He did find employment as a tattoo artist and begun to search for housing. In June 2009, he found an apartment and Neighbor-to-Neighbor was able to assist him with his security deposit. He has maintained his employment, housing and sobriety for nine month.
