Hands that Feed the Soul

Some new volunteers from Congregation Mishkan Israel’s Life Is Delicious cooking group got the chance to serve at Columbus House’s overflow shelter. As always, there was a robust cooking session prior to heading to the shelter. When we got there, we saw people who many folks had gotten to know through Abraham’s Tent. There were lots of smiles in recognition, and some hugs. One guy announced “we’re going to eat real good tonight!” All of the men that we served were so very appreciative. There was more than enough to eat and they welcomed the opportunity to have seconds and even thirds. So many wished us “God Bless” as we left. Seeing the faces and reaction of these gentlemen was a sweet reward and a reminder of why our volunteers do what they do.
