One Month Reprieve Provides so Much More

Judy* has been a client of Harbor Health Services since 1997.  She lives in a second floor apartment and has recently been approved for subsidized housing and remains on the waiting list.  Her rent is equal to the amount of income she receives, forcing her to be sparse with food and other necessities.  She was, in the past, very active in obtaining services and participating in food bank and other such groups.  However, her physical ailments have forced her to cease those activities, and she relies heavily on the good nature and generosity of friends.  The rental assistance we were able to provide for 1 month, allowed her to purchase much needed common household supplies, as well as restock her cabinets.  In addition, she was able to purchase some items that were not medically necessary (which aren't been covered by her insurance) but were needed for her comfort and enjoyment of life. * Name has been changed to protect the individual's privacy.
