A Day in The Life

I am often reminded how difficult it can be for our folks who are trying to do the right thing for themselves.

Today at the Kitchen a young man came up to me looking for some help. He is a recovering heroin addict and every day he goes to the methadone clinic off Howard Avenue.

His problem is this; he lives in Waterbury and the only methadone clinics available are in either Hartford or New Haven and he needed bus fare to get back and forth.

There may be an economic downtown in the country, but the N2N project shows me that there is no recession of hope in New Haven.
Those of us in the non-profit world lead a duel existence. Every day we work with, live with, and share in the lives of needy people. We know people who have nothing and they count on us for help.

The Neighbor 2 Neighbor grant is important to the guests of the Community Soup KItchen because it helps maintain the stability of CSK in a very unstable time. For many of our guests, the meals they get at CSK are often the only hot meal and possibly the most nutritous meal of the day, and they depend upon us as a reliable source for their meals.
